Virtual Windsor Competition Rules

  1. All photos entered must have been taken after 1st January 2017.
  2. Classes are open to Competitors from ALL Countries around the World.
  3. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept entries for Horses or Ponies who are now deceased.
  4. Entrants must have permission from the Horse or Pony’s owner before entering.
  5. Entrants under the age of 18 must have their Parent’s/Guardian’s permission.
  6. We will only accept one photo of a Rider and Horse/Pony combination per class. Please do not submit multiple images for a combination, they will not go forward for judging.
  7. All Competitors in any Working Hunter, Working Show Horse, Working Hunter Pony, Mountain and Moorland Working Hunter Pony, All Intermediate Classes or any Jumping class must be wearing a suitable safety helmet to the current standard; PAS 015 (1998 or 2011) or VG1 01.040 (2014-12) with BSI Kitemark or Inspec IC Mark ; ASTM F1163 2004 or 04a onwards with correct SEI mark; SNELL E2001 or E2016 with official SNELL label and number; AS/NZS 3838 2006 onwards with SAI Global mark, correctly fastened.
  8. All entrants, 18 years and under in a mounted showing class must be wearing a suitable safety helmet to the current standard; PAS 015 (1998 or 2011) or VG1 01.040 (2014-12) with BSI Kitemark or Inspec IC Mark ; ASTM F1163 2004 or 04a onwards with correct SEI mark; SNELL E2001 or E2016 with official SNELL label and number; AS/NZS 3838 2006 onwards with SAI Global mark, correctly fastened. Entrants OVER 18 may wear a top hat, bowler or similar traditional hat according to class at their own risk.
  9. All classes will be short-listed to 10 finalists and the Organisers reserve the right to amalgamate or split any classes.
  10. It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure that no copyright rules are breached when entering their photograph or video, and that they are the copyright holder for the image or video. Entries with watermarks, urls or captions on the image will not be accepted.
  11. By entering a photo or video you agree that “Virtual Windsor” can use your image on the Virtual Windsor Series website, associated Social Media and Show Week Live Stream, and in future marketing.
  12. Any Winning photograph or video from any ‘Virtual Windsor’ Competition may not be used again in any further ‘Virtual Windsor’ competition. However, we welcome new photos from previous winning combinations.
  13. The Judge’s decision is final.
  14. ‘Virtual Windsor’ discourage any unnecessary travel and activity during any lockdown period (including local restrictions), in line with Government policy.
  15. By entering the competition, you are agreeing to abide by the Virtual Windsor Series rules.
  1. The Equitation Jumping is open to Competitors from ALL Countries around the World at all levels.
  2. Entrants must have permission from the Horse or Pony’s owner before entering.
  3. Entrants under the age of 18 must have their Parent’s/Guardian’s permission.
  4. We will only accept one video per Rider per class.
  5. Horses/Ponies may be entered a maximum of three times per class with different Riders.
  6. Sections:
    1. For the Autumn Series, the Equitation Jumping is divided into two sections, U16s and Open.
    2. The U16 Section is open to all riders who were under the age of 16 on 1st January 2020, even if they have since had their 16th Birthday.
    3. The Open Section is Open to All.
    4. Riders may enter both sections, however they should not use the same video.
  7. Setup:
    1. An Equitation Jumping Entry should be filmed in a 20 x 40 sized arena, or marked out space, however the organisers understand this may not always be possible. Entries will not be penalised should the space be slightly smaller or larger.
    2. The three jumps should be safely constructed in such a way that they cause no damage to the horse or rider if knocked or hit. They should be constructed at an appropriate height for the horse and rider combination. There should be one stride between each fence. It is the rider’s responsibility to ensure jumps and conditions are safe, and Virtual Windsor are not responsible for any accidents which may occur during filming. The test is ridden entirely at rider’s own risk.
    3. Tests should be filmed HORIZONTALLY from X.
    4. Tests which are filmed vertically, which are of insufficient quality for use in the livestream, which show potentially dangerous horsemanship practices or which break any of the other rules stated here will be disqualified, and the entry place reopened.
    5. The test may be called, however additional advice or teaching from the caller is not allowed and will result in elimination.
    6. The test must be recorded with the sound on.
    7. Trot may be executed sitting or rising.

  9. All riders should be wearing suitable and safe riding attire.

  11. Attire and Equipment:
    1. Riders are encouraged to wear appropriate Show or Cross Country attire, however will not be penalised for not doing so. Plaiting is encouraged.
    2. Boots and bandages are allowed.
    3. Horses should be ridden in English-style tack. Draw reins and “Market Harboroughs” or any additional training aids are not allowed and will result in disqualification.
  12. Any Winning photograph or video from any Virtual Windsor Competition may not be used again in any further Virtual Windsor competition. However, we welcome new photos from previous winning combinations.
  13. By entering a video you agree that Virtual Windsor can use your footage and any stills from this footage on the Virtual Windsor Series website, associated Social Media and Show Week Live Stream, and in future marketing.
